India has unveiled a massive plan to invest Rs 9.12 lakh crore to expand its power grid infrastructure by 2032, as part of National Electricity Plan (Transmission). Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik presented this strategy, which aims to strengthen country’s energy capabilities.
plan outlines addition of 1,91,474 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 1,274 GVA transformation capacity at 220 kV levels and above. It also includes 33.25 GW of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) bi-pole links and an inter-regional capacity expansion from 119 GW to 168 GW by 2032.
initiative emphasizes incorporating advanced transmission technologies, enabling cross-border interconnections, and encouraging private-sector involvement. This will ensure transparency and growth across energy sector, fostering sustainable energy infrastructure.
